Laxman Utekar Biography

Laxman Utekar is an ace cinematographer turned film director of Bollywood. As a cameraman and cinematographer, he is best known for Bollywood films like English Vinglish, Dear Zindagi, Hindi Medium and 102 Not Out, and all these films were box office hits. As a film director he is best known for 2019 super hit Bollywood film, Luka Chuppi starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon in lead role. He has earlier directed two successful movies - Tapaal and Lalbaugchi Rani in Marathi. Luka Chuppi was his debut film as a director in Bollywood. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film, purely an entertainer was loved by audience.

Laxman Utekar, a Mumbai based cinematographer and filmmaker started his film career in the mid-2000s. Khanna & Iyer in 2007 starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor was his debut film as a full-fledged cinematographer. This movie was a box office flop. However he became a part of several hit Bollywood films later without any registered flops. He also directed two hit Marathi films before directing Luka Chuppi in 2019. Tapaal in 2013 was his first film as a film director. Before that he has worked as a cinematographer in just two Bollywood movies - Khanna & Iyer and English Vinglish.

After his debut film as a director, he continued working as a cinematographer in Bollywood film industry till 2019. Till now he has worked in 5 Bollywood films as a cinematographer, directed two Marathi films and one Hindi film. He told about live-in relationships in his recent comedy film, Luka Chuppi, and was loved by audience. The story set in a small town, the fresh treatment of the youth-oriented subject made him establish in Bollywood.
