Krishnaveni Biography

Krishnaveni is a former singing actress of Telugu film industry. She is also a film producer. She received Raghupathi Venkaiah Award from State government in 2004 for her over all contributions to Telugu film industry. She was married to Telugu film producer Meka Rangaiah Appa Rao and he passed away in 2003.  As an actress, Mana Desam, Bobbili Brahmanna and Brahma Ratham are her best performances. Actors - N. T. Rama Rao and S. V. Ranga Rao and music director Ramesh Naidu were given first opportunity in cinema through Krishnaveni’s production ventures.

She was born on 26 December 1924 in Rajamundry in Andhra Pradesh state. She has been a theater artist before her entry to movies. Krishnaveni made her debut in Telugu cinema as a child artist. 'Sati Anasuya-Dhruva' in 1936 marked her onscreen debut. Later she appeared in 15 Telugu movies as lead heroine. She also appeared in a few Kannada and Tamil movies. After her marriage to producer and studio owner, Raja of Mirzapuram, she turned a film producer. Mana Desam – is one of the major production ventures of Krishnaveni. The leading Telugu actors N. T. Rama Rao and S. V. Ranga Rao were introduced to film world through this movie.

Noted Telugu music director Ramesh Naidu was introduced to film world by Krishnaveni through her movie - Dampatyam in 1957. Dakshayagnam, Mahananda, Madalasa, Jeevana Jyoti, Brahma Ratham, Sati Anasuya-Druva, Mohini Rugmangada, Mana Desam, Malli Pelli, Gollabhama, Bhishma and Kacha Devayani are among her noted movies as an actress. She owns two production companies - MRA productions and Sobhanachala banners (which was earlier known as Jaya pictures).
