Krishna Shankar Biography

Krishna Shankar is a very popular young actor associated with Malayalam cinema. He is best known for playing supporting roles with a comic touch. Marked his debut with 2013 film, Neram directed by Alphonse Putharen enacting the role of Manick, he shot to fame playing the role of Koya in same director’s biggest blockbuster, Premam released in 2015. After the movie release, he became a household name among Malayalam film viewers. Marubhoomiyile Aana, Law Point, Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela, Aadhi, Marubhoomiyile Aana, Bhayya Bhayya and Valleem Thetti Pulleem Thetti are a few more roles enacted by Krishna Shankar. Though he is associated with Malayalam cinema since 2013, he is bit choosy about roles he choose and has done only fewer number of films in the past 5 years or so.

Krishna Shankar marked his film debut through Alphonse Putharen’s debut film, Neram in 2013. Alphonse Putharen was his senior at college, and that’s how he got the role. He worked with a bunch of youngsters in his second film with Alphonse Putharen, Premam, one of the biggest blockbusters of 2015. He acted as one of two best friends of Nivin Pauley in the film, and he had a full-fledged role of Koya, the role which earned him immense popularity. The role of the other friend was enacted by yet another classmate of his graduation days, Sabareesh Varma. He also knew Nivin before his entry, and for the same reason many of the shots for the film looked so close to real. Krishna Shankar later certified that actually in many scenes, they didn’t act.

Called by his friends as Kichu, Krishna Shankar is married now, and has one kid. His wife’s name is Neena. He hails from Aluva of Ernakulam district. For his notable performance in Premam, Krishna was credited with the Best Newcomer Actor Award at Vanitha Film Awards 2015.
