Kripalu Maharaj Biography

Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj is a Hindu spiritual leader from Allahabad who is the preceptor of Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat, a worldwide Hindu non-profit organization. This organization has 4 branches in India and one in US. Indian organizations are situated at Barsana, Mangarh and Vrindavan. Radha Madhav Dham situated in Austin, USA is one of the largest Hindu Temple complexes in the Western Hemisphere. He received the title of Jagadguru on Makar Sankranti day, 14 January 1957 at the age of 34. This title was given by Kashi Vidvat Parishad. His programs are telecasted in Indian television channels like Aastha TV, Sadhna TV, Zee Jagran and Sanskar TV.

 

Kripaluji Maharaj was born on the full moon day of October 1922 as Ram Kripalu Tripathi in Mangarh. He learnt Hindi and Sanskrit from his village school. Later he studied advanced Sanskrit and Ayurveda from Indore and Varanasi and spent one year at Chitrakoot. At the age of 16, he entered into self-imposed banbas. Then he went to Vrindavan and became a saint. When he was 17 years old, he led a 6 month continuous chanting of the "Maha mantra.” In 1955 Kripalu Maharaj organized a religious convention where religious and spiritual leaders across the country participated. Impressed by his spiritual knowledge, Kripalu Maharaj was invited to give discourse at the Kashi Vidvat Parishad in 1957.

 

Kripalu Maharaj has established two free hospitals at Barsana and Mangarh and its expenses are borne by Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat. Kripalu Maharaj's educational trust runs Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat Education for underprivileged women and girls free education up to post graduation level. In 2013, Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat Education president Vishakha Tripathi received the Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award, the Mother Teresa Excellence Award and the Nari Shakti Award. A few of the philosophical books written by Maharaj include - Prem Ras Siddhant, Bhakti Shatak and Radha Govind Geet.
