Kothanda Ramaiah is a film director, producer, distributor and exhibitor associated with Tamil cinema. He joined entertainment industry in the mid-1970s, and has spent over 4 decades in the cine world. He has also produced and distributed Malayalam films too, though a few in number, during his early days. The movie bagged him Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Villain & Best Producer.

Kothanda Ramaiah is also known as Keyar or KR. He enrolled for studying film processing at the Adyar Film Institute in Chennai in 1972, and graduated in 1975. He spent three years as a technician in Doordarshan Kendra before he forayed to films. He started off with Malayalam films and then moved to Tamil movies. Malayalam film Sisirathil Oru Vasantham marked his debut as a director and producer. He had to face a lot of obstacles to see his first film released. In fact it had some distribution issues. He mostly distributed Tamil movies, apart from a few Malayalam hits like My Dear Kuttichathan 3D. He joined film direction after one decade in 1991, with the Tamil film, Eeramana Rojave.
