Karthika Muralidharan Biography

Karthika Muralidharan is a budding actress associated with Malayalam cinema. She made her film debut in 2017 through the political-romantic thriller, CIA (Comrade in America) where she played the female protagonist opposite youth sensation, Dulquer Salman. She essayed Dulquer’s girlfriend Sara, an NRI and her role was well received too. The film fared well at box office. Uncle is her upcoming release, where she is to share screen space with Mammootty, Dulquer’s father. The movie is slated to release in 2017. She is the daughter of Bollywood cinematographer, C. K. Muraleedharan - the man behind the lens of Bollywood blockbusters, 3 Idiots, PK and Agent Vinod.

Karthika was born in Mumbai to Malayali parents on 18th January 1997. Kottayam is her hometown. Her father is C. K. Muraleedharan, cinematographer of Bollywood blockbusters, 3 Idiots and PK starring Aamir Khan. Karthika did her schooling from Schooling at Gokuldham High School, Mumbai. Later she studied at Junior College at Sophia College for Women; and alsocompleted her Bachelor's degree in Srishti School of Art Design and Technology in Bangalore. Her younger brother Akash Muraleedharan too made film debut last year through School Bus. He played Jayasurya’s son in this movie, the pivot character and the whole movie revolves around him.

Karthika is also active in theatre nowadays. At the age of 20, Karthika made her Malayalam film debut through CIA (Comrade in America) starring opposite Dulquer Salman. The movie tells the story of communist activist Aji Mathew who goes to the US illegally in search for his girlfriend Sarah, and this lead role was played by Karthika. The movie was directed by Amal Neerad who gave many hit movies to Malayalam in the recent times. With the promising debut of siblings to Malayalam screen, let’s hope they become famous than their father, known for his works in Bollywood cinema.
