Kamal Kamaraju Biography

Kamal Kamaraju is a Telugu film actor who has played both lead roles and supporting ones. He has also acted in one Tamil film - Ayiram Vilakku (2010). Started his career as an assistant art director in the year 2006, he made his film debut the same year with the movie, Chhatrapati, and earned recognition through Godavari (2006), where he portrayed the supporting role of Ravi, a self-centered IPS officer. After a few more supporting roles, he got his first lead role through the movie - Avakai Biryani and since then he portrayed many protagonist’s roles onscreen. He is also a writer, architect and painter.

 

He was born in Gandhi Asramam, Sevagram of Maharashtra, but brought up in Hyderabad. His maternal grandparents were freedom fighters. His father worked in Navratna Company. He completed degree in Architecture at JNTC. Since young he was interested in acting and thus he pursued a career in acting. It was the film Aithe that motivated him to get into films. He became an instant fan of Chandra Sekhar Yeleti, its director. Through one of his friends, he expressed before Yeleti, his desire to join him as an assistant and later got a phone call. Thus he joined Yeleti’s team to work in art department. He joined as an assistant under art director Ravinder to do one film with Uday Kiran as hero. But the film didn’t take off.

 

Later he got acquainted with Sekhar Kammula, which helped him to enter film industry as an actor. Then with the movie, Avakai Biryani he turned a hero. Later he played male lead in Kalavaramaye Madilo (2009) and Virodhi (2011). Ladies & Gentlemen (2015), Legend (2014) and Aravind 2 (2013) are his other releases. He is married to Supriya Biswas since 2013.
