K. V. Vijayendra Prasad Biography

K. V. Vijayendra Prasad is a veteran and well established screenwriter and director associated with Telugu cinema. Famous film director S. S. Rajamouli of Baahubali fame is his son and he has co-scripted and co-produced many of the big budget films directed by Rajamouli. He is also associated with Bollywood as a scriptwriter and story writer and is best known for Salman Khan Blockbuster - Bajrangi Bhaijaan, for which he received Filmfare award and Screen awards for best story. He also wrote the story of blockbuster - Bajrangi Bhaijaan, one of his best works in the recent times. He has written blockbusters like Rowdy Rathore and Magadheera in the past. Noted music composers - Kalyan Koduri and Keeravani are his nephews while composer-singer M. M. Srilekha is his niece.

A writer known for creating screen magic with his fantasy tales, he has scripted more than 25 films and most of them are blockbusters. 2015 has been the most successful year of Prasad as a writer, as two of his films - Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Baahubali – The beginning collectively earned the major share of Indian box office collections. It was quite interesting to see these both films, competing each other to become the highest Indian grosser of the year. He wrote story of both these films and has also been credited as co-script writer. The movies collectively earned more than 1200 crore at box office, an outstanding achievement of Vijayendra Prasad as a writer.

Koduri Venkata Vijayendra Prasad was born in Kovvur, Andhra Pradesh. He entered film scene in 1988. As a film director, Rajanna is his best work, which has won him many accolades including a best director's award. The movie received Nandi Award for Best Feature Film for the year 2011 and recorded as ’Above Average’ at the box office. Earlier he has directed Arthanghi (1996) and Sri Krishna (2006).
