K. Padmanabhan Nair Biography 
K. Padmanabhan Nair was a famous screenwriter, dialogue writer and director associated with Malayalam cinema, in its golden era. Noted playback singer Santha P. Nair is his wife and their daughter - Latha Raju, has been a popular child playback singer in the 1970s. Nair has written the screenplay of 20 movies and has directed 5 Malayalam movies during his life time. Kochumon and Devatha are his directorial ventures, both released in 1965. As a screenwriter and dialogue writer, his best scripts are Thacholi Othenan (1964), Kunjaali Marakkaar (1967) and Kadathukaaran (1965). He was quite active in the era of 1960 Malayalam Black & White movies. He wrote the script and dialogues of the famous ‘Moodupadam’ in 1963. It was the first Malayalam movie based on the social theme of communal harmony.
He was born in 1919 in Payannur, Kannur district. Kaithari Raman Nambiar and Kutty Nambiar were his parents. He worked at All India Radio since 1964. His entry to Malayalam film industry happened in the year 1963. He entered film scene as a script writer cum dialogue writer. The movie was Moodupadam, based on a story written by S. K. Pottekkat, and he co-wrote the screenplay with K. T. Muhammed. The film directed by Ramu Kariat focused on the crucial social issue of communal harmony, one of the first Malayalam movies of this kind.
As a screenwriter Padmanabham Nair won Kerala state awards for Thacholi Othenan in 1964 and Kunjalimarakkar in 1967. He is married to noted playback singer Santha P. Nair and their daughter Latha Raju too is a famous singer known for the songs like Manjakili Swarnakili. Latha was married to playback singer J. M. Raju and their son, Aalap Raju too is a singer. Padmanabhan Nair passed away in 1990.
