K. E. Gnanavel Raja Biography

K. E. Gnanavel Raja is a film producer, distributor and entrepreneur from Tamil Nadu. His career began with distributing Tamil films starring Suriya and Karthi, and later he started three film studios - Studio Green, Aadnah Arts and Blue Ghost Pictures, started in the years -2006, 2015 and 2017 respectively, and all these three studios are live. He is associated with film industry since 2006. Two horror films set for release in 2018, after the establishment of his third studio, Blue Ghost Pictures in 2017. Gnanavel Raja is also distantly related to actor Sivakumar's family, thus related to actors Suriya and Karthi. He has produced and distributed many films of the siblings.

K. E. Gnanavel Raja was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Since childhood he dreamt to produce films. He used to skip his classes and go to nearby film theatre and watched films. Though it is a risky profession where less than five per cent of the investors end up making a profit in films, Raju followed his passion and reached the same field. While studying at class 11, he would sit with his friends Karthi and Jayakumar, and dreams of being a producer. The three friends also took decision that while Raja produces films, Jayakumar would direct them, and Karthi acts. But years later Jayakumar moved to US, while Raja and Karthi achieved their dream goals and succeeded in this field.

He prefers distribution to production, and he believes that as a professional, a producer should not emotionally attach to it. He established his first studio in 2006. As a film producer he started off with Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (2006) starring Suriya in the lead role. As a producer, he has been a part of many successful Tamil ventures like - Paruthiveeran (2007), Singam (2010), Naan Mahaan Alla (2010), Attakathi (2012), Kumki (2012) etc and also with several small budget films like Madras (2014), Indru Netru Naalai (2015) and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum (2016).
