Jeethu Joseph Biography

Jeethu Joseph is a very successful film director of Malayalam of ‘Dhrishyam’ (2013) fame. This family thriller broke all collection records of Malayalam across the theatres of Kerala and became the first Malayalam movie to earn 50 crore collection from theatres. The movie starring Mohanlal, Meena, Baby Ester and Ansiba Hassan was well received by family viewers and ran in full packed houses for several weeks. Jeethu is to direct the movie in Tamil with Kamal Haasan and Gouthami in pivot roles and the same movie is to be made in Telugu and Kannada languages with the same title, though Jeethu is not a part of it.

Earlier this year, he surprised everyone with yet another suspense thriller, Memories, a script that he weaved in mind years ago. The movie proved to be one of the most memorable and successful character of Prithviraj. Earlier too, Jeethu has given one family entertainer to Malayalam viewers – Mummy and Me – a plot on the relationship and quarrels between a mother and a teenager girl, a common thing in all families of today. The central characters were played by Urvashi and Archana Kavi and Suresh Gopi played a pivot role as well. Detective and My boss are his other releases, though not successful and memorable as the rest.

He was born in Mutholapuram of Ernakulam district in 1972. He started off as an assistant under acclaimed director, Jayaraj. He wrote the script of Detective, but failed to find a producer for the movie. Later his mother co-produced it, marking his new beginning as an independent filmmaker. The movie released in 2007 starring Suresh Gopi and Sindhu Menon, was an average at box office. His second project was Mummy & Me in 2010. The movie was well appreciated for the theme and comic timings and the movie gave a good message to society as well.

His third release ‘My Boss’ with Dileep and Mamta Mohandas received negative response from critics and he returned in a bang in 2013 with two super hits back to back – Memories and Dhrishyam. While Memories told the story of a serial killer, Dhrishyam showed us, to how much extend one can go to cover his mistakes and crimes.
