Jay Chandrasekhar Biography

Jay Chandrasekhar is an American actor, comedian, writer, and director of Indian origin. He is best known for the comedy team, Broken Lizard. He formed the troupe with former members of Charred Goosebeak and Beta Theta Pi. Noted American actor of south Indian origin Sendhil Ramamurthy is his cousin. He has acted and directed Broken Lizard's films like Super Troopers, Club Dread, and Beerfest, which earned him appreciation. He has also directed a few episodes of American comedy series that was premiered on Spike in 2010 - Blue Mountain State.

Chandrasekhar was born in Hinsdale, Illinois of Chicago in 1968. His full name is Jayanth Jambulingam Chandrasekhar. Both his parents are physicians migrated from India. Noted Indian-American actor Sendhil Ramamurthy, best known for NBC superpower drama Heroes, is his cousin. They together have appeared in one episode of Psych in 2009. He is married to Susan Clarke since September 2005 and the couple has one child. While doing his graduation at Colgate University in New York, he was a member of the comedy troupe - Charred Goosebeak. He was also a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Later he formed the troupe Broken Lizard with the people whom he met at Colgate university.

Super Troopers, The Dukes of Hazzard, Club Dread, and Beerfest are his famous directorial ventures. He has also directed many episodes of acclaimed televisions shows like “Happy Endings,” “Community,” “Chuck,” “Up All Night,” and the infamous “Arrested Development.” He also directed “The Babymakers,” in 2012 starring Paul Schneider. He was named among Fade In Magazine's "100 People in Hollywood You Need to Know" in 2005.
