James Albert (screenwriter) Biography

James Albert is a successful screenwriter of Malayalam cinema best known for his maiden work –Classmates in 2006. The movie went on to become the highest grosser of the year and cemented Prithviraj’s position in the film industry. Later he wrote the successful scripts of Cycle, Venicile Vyapari, Ividam Swargamanu etc. Jawan of Vellimala and Ezhu sundara raathrikal are other noted scripts. He has worked with the top directors of malayaalm cinema – Lal Jose and Rosshan Andrrews, apart from Johny Antony, Shafi and Anoop Kannan. Till now he has scripted 6 movies.

Now he is busy with the new script, the 4th package of Dasan and Vijayan’s Nadodikaattu. He is writing the script for Rosshan Andrrews. They have together worked for Mohanlal starrer mega blockbuster Evidum swargamanu. He is also planning to direct his first movie, titled "Mariyam Mukku". The movie stars Fahadh Faasil and Hima Davis, of Mumbai police fame in lead roles. Music is composed by Vidyasagar and in this comic movie, Fahadh plays a fisherman role.

Albert is known for writing different genres of scripts. ‘Classmates’ is perhaps the most popular campus film made in Malayalam. The movie starred Prithviraj, Jayasurya, Narain, Indrajith, Kavya Madhavan, Jagathy Sreekumar,Balachandra Menon and Radhika in the lead roles. The movie was noticed for its fresh script and unexpected climax and was later remade to Tamil with Prithviraj reprising his original role. The movie proved to be the breakthrough of all its stars as well, including Radhika, Jayasurya, Indrajith and Narain. Indrajith and Prithviraj – the real life brothers played college friends in this movie. Ividam Swargamanu is his second noticed best script. Mohanlal played the role of an innocent farmer in this movie. This script, similar to his first one was a thriller and accepted by audience with open heart.
