J. K. Rithesh Biography

J. K. Rithesh was a politician and actor from the state of Tamil Nadu. He was most recently seen in Tamil political blockbuster, LKG. He was a former MP from the constituency Ramanathpuram representing Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) who got elected in 2009. Unfortunately he passed away on 13th April 2019 while he was on an election campaign in Ramanathapuram. He died of massive heart attack aged only 48. He was arrested in November 2011 in a land grabbing case. Nayagan, Kaanal Neer and Pen Singam are other film works.

 

His birth name is Mugavai Kumar, and he is of Sri Lankan origin. He was born on March 5, 1971 in Kandy. His family migrated to Rameswaram when he was only three and he was brought up in Tamil Nadu. His father worked in in the agricultural sector, while his mother is a housewife. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering. He had a late marriage in 2007 and has one son. His wife’s name is Jotheeswari.

 

As a film actor he debut with Kaanal Neer in 2007, directed by Chinni Jayanth. It was the same year he got married. But the role went unnoticed. Later he appeared in three more films in the past 12 years. 2019 movie LKG marked his return to film after hiatus of long 9 years to play the most memorable role of his career. His role as Ramraj Pandian earned him accolades. Apart from J. K. Rithesh, politician Nanjil Sampath also played an important role in the film. It was a political satire film directed by the debutant K. R. Prabhu. This politician turned actor had a brief career in films.
