Iqbal Durrani Biography

Iqbal Durrani is a film personality associated with Bollywood. As a film producer and director, he has given many hit films to Bollywood, and has also introduced many actors to silver screen. He started off as a dialogue writer of action films in the late 1980s. He writes screen plays and also plays brief roles on silver screen. He earned fame as a producer and dialogue writer in Hindi films.

As a film producer, he introduced three superstars of Bollywood through his films in early 1990s. He introduced Ajay Devgan & Madhu through Phool Aur Kaante in 1991. Shah Rukh’s first signed movie was Dil Aashna Hai directed by Iqbal, though Deewana got released earlier. He directed Akshay Kumar’s first film, Saugandh. He introduced south Indian megastar Mammootty through his film, Dhartiputra, and also Nagarjuna through Shiva. Iqbal introduced his son Mashaal Durrani also to silver screen.

Iqbal Durrani was born in Banka, Bihar on 26 February 1956. He started his film journey as a dialogue writer in the late 1980s. His first film as a dialogue writer was 1988 film, Kaal Chakra. His dialogues became smash hit, and since then he wrote many thunder dialogues for action films in late 1980s and early 1990s. Mera Shikaar, Khoj, Shandaar, Izzat, Siva, Majboor etc are some of the films for which he wrote dialogues. In 1989 he wrote the dialogues of super hit film, Shiva which marked the directorial debut of Ram Gopal Varma to Bollywood. The movie introduced Nagarjuna and Amala to Bollywood.

His son Mashaal Durrani joined Bollywood films in 2015. He was launched by his father through the war movie, Hum Tum Dushman Dushman.
