Indrani Dutta Biography

Indrani Dutta is a noted film and television actress associated with Bengali entertainment industry. She is a recipient of Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Best Actress award for Prabhat Roy’s Shedin Choitromaash. Associated with Bengali films since 1987 she has completed almost 30 years in the film scene. She is a trained dancer who regularly performs for stage shows. Her nickname was Bubun.

She was born to Jyoti Dutta and mother Manjushree Dutta in Kolkata. She is the youngest child of the couple and she was born on 6 April, 1970. Her schooling was done at Kamala Girls' High School and since young she nurtured a dream to become an actress. She took formal training in dance forms and music and she excelled in sports also. She was active in cultural events and sports while at school. Listening to music and stamp collecting were her hobbies since young. She also showed interest in interior design and gardening. She graduated in Arts from the Sivanath Sastri College and also took formal learning in Kathak from Allahabad University. She received guidance from Guru Sumitra Mitra while at Allahabad University. She was studying in 9th standard she was awarded the Prabhakar title for her talent and expertise in dancing.

She entered film scene in the late 1980s and is still active in the film industry. She has played both leading and supporting roles on television and movies and won many awards. Nadia Nagar directed by Shushil Mukhopadhay was her debut flick. In this devotional film she played the female lead. The film’s success made her an overnight sensation and very soon she became a busy actress. Currently she is associated with dance concerts apart from acting.
