Gurinder Singh Biography 
Gurinder Singh born on 5 June 1989 in Chandigarh. Gurinder is 195 cm tall and weighs 92 kg is a player and captain of Indian Volleyball team. He is popularly known as Gurinder and he started playing volleyball in 2001, along with his brother Hardeep who is now in the Punjab team. After three years, he was in the Indian boys’ team at the Children’s Asia event and his best moment came at the 2009 under-21 Worlds in Pune, where India finished fourth.
Gurinder started playing volleyball at the age of tender age of twelve on the courts of the Shivalik Public School in Chandigarh. It would be worth mentioning here that his father was a bus driver in that school. Gurinder Singh put up a lot of efforts on his practice sessions and soon was chosen by SAI coach Mohan Nargeta. Nageta decided to take him under his training program and worked seriously to develop his skills.
After a successful stint on the national circuit, he played his first match for the Indian under-19 team at the children's Asia tournament in 2004, which was won by India. Gurinder was soon a part of Indian volleyball team that won the bronze medal at the Youth Asian Championships held in Tehran in 2005. Gurinder made his debut for the junior team in the Asian Junior Championships in 2006 in Tehran where India won the bronze medal.
Gurinder Singh is men's national volleyball team's captain that represents India in international volleyball competitions, managed by Volleyball Federation of India. His biggest disappointment was missing out on selection for the World Championship in 2007 due to a knee injury. Indian basketball has much lower world ranking but Gurinder Singh feels there is lot of activity and scope in basketball and a lot is being done for the game.
