Gunbir Singh Sidhu Biography

Gunbir Singh Sidhu is a Punjabi filmmaker and distributor. He is an Indo-Canadian film producer and director, who predominantly works with Punjabi cinema. Manmord Sidhu is an alumnus of Vancouver Film School. He formed film production and distribution companies along with his cousin, Manmord Sidhu. Gunbir Singh Sidhu owns a Master’s Degree in Chip Designing from Imperial College, London. Manmord Sidhu is an alumnus of Vancouver Film School. Their banner White Hill Production has produced films like Jatt & Juliet, Jatt & Juliet 2, Punjab 1984, Sardaarji and Sardaarji 2. Most of their ventures remained successful.

As a film producer, he is best known for the movie, Punjab 1984 released in 2014. He produced this Punjabi period drama along with Manmord Sidhu. The movie starring Diljit Dosanjh and Kirron Kher was based on the 1984 – 1986 Punjab insurgency's impact on social life, and the film was a major hit at box office. The film released under the banner White Hill Production India Pvt. Ltd. won National award for Best Feature Film in Punjabi. His production house also co-produced movies such as Jatt & Juliet 1 and 2, Best of Luck 2013, Romeo Ranjha, Sardaar ji, Sardaar Ji 2, Channa Mereya, Carry On Jatta 2, Muklawa etc. He also distributed most of them, apart from other production ventures.

Gunbir Singh Sidhu was born in Hoshiarpur on 6 January 1982. After his master’s degree he moved to India and began his career as a trader of used cars in mid-2000s. He turned a successful businessman very soon, and diversified his business to different sectors like real estate, education, agriculture & finance. He joined hands with his cousin to start a film production company in 2012 and their debut film, Jatt and Juliet was a blockbuster.

A well-known name in the production and distribution of Punjabi movies in Indian and Canadian circle, he owns a bunch of film companies under the name ‘White Hill Production’. The companies owned by him include - White Hill Production India Pvt. Ltd., White Hill Music & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., White Hill Production Inc. (Canada) & White Hill Production Pty Ltd. (Australia). His company distributes almost all Punjabi films released under his banner, and also movies of other production houses.
