Goga Kapoor Biography

Goga Kapoor was a Bollywood actor best known for character and supporting roles. He has played both negative shaded and comic roles also.  He has played the sidekick of villain in numerous memorable Bollywood hits. His real name is ‘Ravinder Kapoor’. Kapoor started his career with theater and worked in many English plays before entering film field. He entered Bollywood in the early 1970s and mostly portrayed negative roles throughout his career. He passed away in 2011. His role as Dinkar Rao in the film Agneepath (1990) which gave the first National award to Amitabh Bachchan, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Run, Pathar ke phool and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak are among his noted roles.

 

He was born as Ravinder Kapoor on 15 December 1940 in Gujranwala, British India. He started his career as a theater artist and worked with English plays before entering Bollywood with 1971 movie Jwala. Though he was given a bit role, his work was noticed and he became a regular actor of Bollywood action movies throughout 1970s and later. He also worked in regional movies during this period and Ek Kunwari Ek Kunwara was one of his noted Bollywood works which established him as a ‘Bad man of Bollywood’.

 

He mostly appeared as villain's henchmen or gangster in most of the works. He appeared in Khoon paseena, Hero, Yaarana, Shaan, Dostana, Sagar, Mard, Mr Natwarlal, Satte pe satta, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Hera pheri, Himalay Se Ooncha, Zanjeer, Betaab, Coolie, Shakti etc during 1970s-1980s. He frequently appeared in Big B’s action movies doing negative shaded roles. One of the noted works is ''Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'' - where he played Juhi Chawla''s father. He passed away in 2011 aged 70, after portraying more than 500 roles onscreen.
