Geetu Mohandas is a famous actress of Malayalam movies, who is now working on short films. She has won National award for her debut short film as a director, Kelkkunnundo. Before landing into movies as a leading actress, she has worked in a few movies during late 80’s as child artist. She has worked in both Malayalam as well as Tamil during this time and many successful movies like Onnu muthal poojyam vare (Malayalam) and En Bommukutty Ammavukku (Tamil remake of Malayalam hit ‘Ente mamaatty kuttiyammakku, the movie for which Shalini won best child actress National award). Among all her movies as adult, roles of Thenkashi pattanam, Nammal Thammil and Akele are noted most. In 2004, she won best actress state award and Film fare award for her performance in Akele, the milestone movie of her career. The movie ‘Oridam’ has also helped her to win state awards. As a child artist, she has won Kerala state awards for Onnu muthal poojyam vare.

Geetu Mohandas’s birth name is Gayathri Mohandas. Geethu is her pet name and later when she joined movies, she changed her name to Gayathri Mohandas for movies. She was born in Kerala on a Valentine’s day 1981. She joined movies with Mohan Lal’s movie, ‘Onnu muthal poojyam vare’, the movie that earned her state awards too. The lullaby of the movie ‘Raree raariram raaro’ sung by Venu Gopal and music given by Mohan Sitara is still popular. She acted the role of a little girl who lost her father and later become too close to a stranger and the role was played by Mohan Lal. Mohan Lal appears only in the climax of the movie. In the movie, the language of love between a father and a daughter lovely communicated through phone calls is shown in a lovely and silent way and Geetu gave full justification to the role as a daughter. She has also done child actress role in Veendum, Saayam sandhya and Rareeram.

Among all the movies as adult, supporting role in Thenkashi pattanam is most popular. Her other movies include - Seetha Kalyanam, Vaal kannadi, Choonda, Valkannadi, Life Is Beautiful, Mullavalliyum Thenmavum, Akasha Gopuram, Rappakal and Ullam.
