Geethu Anna Jose Biography 
Geethu Anna Jose is a basketball player who plays in national team. She currently serves as the captain of national woman team. She started her international career in 2002 as a junior player and later graduated to senior team. Currently she is one of the most valuable players of woman team. Geethu received Arjuna Award the year 2014-15 for her outstanding contributions towards sport in India and abroad. She has also represented the Indian Railways for many tournaments, and has been a part of winning side too. She is also known as the face of Indian women basketball. At 6’2”, Geethu Anna Jose stands tall against her compatriots.
Geethu Anna Jose hails from Kerala. She was born in 1985 in Changanasserry, Kottayam into a Christian family. Her brother Tom Jose and paternal cousin Tibin Anthony are also basket players and have represented Kerala state team. Geethu Anna Jose got married to Rahul Koshy in 2014 and the couple has two children. During her early days, Geethu played volleyball before switching to basketball. Later she played for Kerala Junior Basketball Association.
She was spotted by the Southern Railway basketball team, and thus she got opportunity to appear for Southern Railway in 2003. She was a team member of Railways which registered many wins in national level, including 2005 tournament final, where her team beat Delhi. In 2006 she was signed by Ringwood Hawks to play for Australian Big V, and she played for next two seasons too. She is first Indian woman basketball player to play for an Australia club. In 2006 she won The Most Valuable Player Award and top scorer, rebounder and best shot-blocker prizes in the Melbourne (Australia) Commonwealth Games. She has been the top scorer and top player of many tournament smultiple times.
