Gaurav Narayanan Biography

Gaurav Narayanan is a film director, screenwriter and actor associated with Tamil films. He marked his career as a director and screenplay writer with 2011 Tamil drama-thriller film, Thoonga Nagaram, where he played a supporting role too. Thus this movie marked his acting debut also. The movie opened to positive reviews and had excellent box office collection, thus making Gaurav Narayanan’s debut in the industry impressive. He later scripted and directed the films, Sigaram Thodu and Ippadai Vellum in which he acted as well. He was also seen in Tamil films - Naan Rajavaga Pogiren and Aarathu Sinam.

Gaurav Narayanan hails from Madurai, Tamil Nadu. He completed his Master’s degree in English before he pursued films. He started his journey as an assistant cinematographer to Rajarajan, followed by directors N. Maharajan and K. S. Ravikumar. After staying in the industry for a while as an assistant director, he made his first full-fledged film in 2011 starring Vimal and Anjali in the lead. His directorial debut Thoonga Nagaram marked his acting and screenwriter debut too. He was given "Best Debutant Director" award by Emirates Tamilians Association, EMITAA 2011. The movie was officially screened in Chennai International Film Festival, and also won an award at Norwary Tamil Film Festival.

His second film as a director is Sigaram Thodu, a thriller starring Vikram Prabhu, Monal Gajjar and Sathyaraj. Gaurav played a supporting actor role in the film. The movie fared well at box office, though it opened to mixed reviews. His recent film as a director is Ippadai Vellum, released in 2017. He also played a brief role of police inspector in this flick.
