Farhat Basir Khan Biography 
Farhat Basir Khan is an Indian photographer and academician. He serves as the faculty member at the AJK Mass Communication and Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia. He also holds Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Chair, and occasionally holds the position of Chairman of the institution. He is a visiting professor of different international educational institutions and also serves as a jury member in India and abroad.
Farhat Basir Khan was born on 2 August 1957 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his studies from Aligarh Muslim University in 1978 and started his career as a photojournalist. He became a successful industrial and advertising photographer and audio-visual producer. Later he decided to join the field of academics and joined as faculty of Photography at Aligarh Muslim University. Later Khan joined the AJK, Mass Communication Research Centre, and currently heads Photography, Multimedia & Audio-visual sections. He also served as Director of the Academy for Photographic Excellence.
As of now he has more than three decades of experience in the field of teaching, and he teaches till post-graduation classes. Along with his teaching profession, he has completed several national and international media projects and consultancies. He also designs new Media Courses, and set up new educational institutions for this purpose.
A pioneer in the field of media and education over the years, he created the 50th year WHO and also the UNICEF commemorative AV. He was also instrumental in bringing the Sony World Photography award to India. As an academician he owns many students who later earned fame and popularity in the field of art and entertainment. Shah Rukh Khan, Roshan Abbas, Barkha Dutt, Kabir Khan, Loveleen Tandan etc are among his students.
