Upendra Baxi Biography 
Upendra Baxi is a legal scholar and a professor with decades of experience in this field. He is an educator and administrator too. He serves as the professor of law in development at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom since 1996. He served as the vice-chancellor of University of Delhi during 1990–1994. Prior to it, he has served as a professor in the same university for 23 years since 1973. He has also served as the vice-chancellor of the University of South Gujarat, Surat during the period, 1982–1985. For his overall contributions to the field of education, he has been honoured with fourth civilian honour Padma Shri by government of India in 2011.
Upendra Baxi was born on 9 November 1938 in Gujarat. He completed his law studies from Rajkot University, Gujarat. He later completed LL.M. degrees from the University of Bombay and the University of California, Berkeley. Following research work, he also took Doctorate of Juristic Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. After studies he took the profession of teaching and he continued teaching for many decades, giving great contributions as a teacher. Comparative constitutionalism, social theory of human rights, human rights responsibilities in corporate governance and business conduct, and materiality of globalisation are his interests.
Upendra Baxi taught law at Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, where he remained dean 1975–1978 and vice-chancellor of the university. He also taught at Universities of Sydney, Duke University, the American University, the New York University Law School Global Law Program, the University of Toronto and the NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. He also served as Ford Foundation Professor of Human Rights at The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences in Kolkata.
