Digvijay Singh (golfer) Biography

Digvijay Singh is an Indian professional golfer from Delhi. He turned professional in 1999, and has been a successful player so far. He has been a part of Professional Golf Tour of India and the Asian Tour, and also Asian Games in Bangkok in 1998. He has represented his home nation in several international tournaments. He is the elder sibling of noted film actress and model, Chitrangada Singh who was formerly married to professional golf player Randhawa. In fact his brother-in-law Jyoti Singh Randhawa introduced Singh to the game at age 17, and played a good role in promoting his talent. He is the son-in-law of senior politician Nirmal Singh (Haryana).

Digvijay Singh was born on 30 January 1972 in Delhi. He was born into a family of army officers.Singh marked his profession through amateur tournaments and had a solid career in the 1990s, before he moved to professional gold in 1999. He won Sri Lankan Amateur Championship in 1996 and 1997, and has played for India for a few more tournaments before he turned a professional. Singh currently holds 12 career wins on the PGTI. He played his first full season on the Asian Tour in 2008. He made 8 unsuccessful attempts to finally obtain a card. He finished at position 4 in the debut professional series as well.

His first win on the PGTI came in 2008 at the Players Championship, and since then has registered 12 wins. Among his Asian tour wins, Panasonic Open India in 2012 was one among his major tournaments. He is married to Chitra Sarwara, the daughter of Congress politician from Haryana, Nirmal Singh.
