Deependra Negi Biography

Deependra Negi is an Indian professional footballer from Uttarakhand who plays for different football clubs across India. He has been a member of national team, India U17 during 2014–2015. Currently he plays as a midfielder for Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League. He has earlier played with AIFF Elite Academy (2013–2016) and CF Reus (2016-2017) before signing for one of the most popular teams of ISL, Kerala Blasters then co-owned by Sachin Tendulkar. At the age of 19, he is one of the most young and promising midfielders of the team.

 

Deependra Singh Negi was born on 20 November 1998. He hails from Uttarakhand of North India. Negi began his career with the AIFF Elite Academy. After that he moved to Spain to attend trials with various Spanish clubs. By that time he was predetermined to take football as his career. Finally in September he was signed by a Spain club, CF Reus of the Segunda Division. But the following year he returned to India, signing for Kerala blasters in 2017. It was his first stint in Indian Super League, and he has been retained for 2018 season as well.

 

He was initially signed by Kerala blasters as one among the four youngsters with an eye on the future. He marked his professional debut for the club on 27 January 2018 against Delhi Dynamos, when he came on ground as a substitute for Karan Sawhney at halftime. He played a good role in making his team win the match 2-1 and he also contributed for the goals. He was awarded with the Hero of the Match award, and since then he remained in spotlight.
