Chembil Ashokan Biography 
Chembil Ashokan is a very popular character artist associated with Malayalam cinema. He excels in comic roles as well as serious roles. He started his career with a Satyan Anthikad movie, and since then he has essayed more than 60 character roles on Malayalam screen. He became a familiar face for Malayalam audience through the numerous character roles he played on screen. He is known for his comic roles and dialogue delivery skills. Life of Josutty, English, Manglish, Vellimoonga, Paappi Appacha, Celluloid, Ivan Megharoopan, Katha Thudarunnu, Violin etc are some of his noted character roles.
Chembu, near Vaikkom is his native place. It’s the same place where megastar Mammootty grew up. In fact Mammootty’s ancestral home stands in front of Ashokan’s home. Ashokan shares it to be a nice memory to be called as Mammootty’s neighbour. Ashokan added ‘Chembu’ tag to his name, and is now he is prefixed as “Chembil’ which literally means ‘From Chembu’. In real life too, Chembil Ashokan is known for delivering comedy dialogues. Ashokan doesn’t own a colourful childhood. He lost his father at a very young age of 4 long before he could remember his father’s face. He had 4 siblings and his mother had struggled a lot to bring up her five children. He is the youngest of five kids, and his elder brothers did odd jobs to earn a living.
He has been a theatre artist before he reached cinema. He has been a popular entertainer of ‘Chembu’ circle. He made his film debut in 2010 with Satyan Anthikad film Katha Thudarunnu followed Dileep-Kavya Madhavan starrer comedy film Paappi Appacha. After that he has never looked back. The actor believes that it’s lucky to debut film industry with a Satyan Anthikad film.
