Chanchal (Malayalam Actress) Biography

Chanchal is a former Malayalam actress and accomplished classical dancer. She is best known for playing the parallel lead of Kunjathol – the ghost in the highly acclaimed Hariharan film, scripted by M. T. Vasudevan Nair, Ennu Swantham Janakikutty released in 1998. Though she gained recognition through this movie, she decided to dedicate her time to the world of dance. She currently runs Kalaangali School of Arts – a dance school in Cary, North Carolina, fully dedicated to Bharatanatyam and Indian semi-classical dance. Chanchal has also hosted a few television shows. After her debut movie in 1998, she was seen in two more films - Ormacheppu (1998) and Rishivamsham (1999).

Chanchal – is the tallest among contemporary Malayalam film actresses. She has a height of Five feet eight inches. She was introduced to Malayalam cinema as Kunjathol by the popular team of M.T-Hariharan, through the movie - Ennu Swantham Janakikutty in 1998. With silver eyes, she excelled the role of a good ghost to perfection. She played the best companion of lead actress Jomol, who also made her debut through this film. She hasn’t done so many movies. Yet she is still remembered for her debut role. She was already an established model and was compeering for fashion pageants, when she accepted this role.

Later she acted in `Ormacheppu' by Lohitadas and `Rishivamsam' by Rajeev Anchal. Yet she is still recognised by audience for her debut film. This actress is not interested in doing long-running television serials. Krishna Babu and Usha are her parents and she has one elder sister – Sheetal. Painting, watching TV, listening to music, reading magazines etc are her hobbies. She is also interested in writing diaries since her early childhood. Now an accomplished dancer, she performs across the globe and runs a dance school in Cary, North Carolina.
