Chaitrali Dongre Biography

Chaitrali Dongre is a talented and young costume designer associated with Marathi film and television industry. She is also associated with other language films and has also won popular awards. She started off as an assistant costume designer for the film ‘Uttarayan’ and now she is one of the leading names of the industry. As an independent costume designer, she has worked for the movies - ‘Dagadi Chawl’, ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’, ‘Rang Karmi’, 3:56 Killari & ‘Bikers’ Adda’. She also works as an executive producer and casting director in the film industry. Started her career in the industry in 2004, she has completed a ‘Jupiter Year’ and now one of the well-established names as well.

 

Chaitrali Dongre is a Maharashtrian. She entered into the creative world of costume designing as an assistant costume designer for the award winning highly acclaimed Marathi film ‘Uttarayan’ (2004). The movie was the directorial debut of Bipin Nadkarni also and starred Shivaji Satam and Neena Kulkarni in lead roles. The movie won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2004. As an independent costume designer, ‘Dagadi Chawl’, ‘Elizabeth Ekadashi’ & ‘Bikers’ Adda’ are her best works in Marathi films. Dongre feels fashion trends are changing and most of time, old fashions are reintroduced once again to screen with suitable new alterations.

 

The artist feels that when front end artists like film actors get noticed easily, those technicians who work in the background need to take extra efforts to earn recognition. She also worked as a casting director for the Marathi film - ‘Biker’s Adda’. Now an executive producer, she plans to produce movies in futire and also owns a publication house. Travelling is her main hobby.
