C. V. Kumar Biography

C. Vijayakumar, shortly called C. V. Kumar is a film producer and distributor associated with Tamil Cinema. He currently heads the production studio Thirukumaran Entertainment, which has produced commercially successful movies like Attakathi, Pizza and Soodhu Kavvum. These movies received critics’ acclaim and are the first three production ventures of Kumar, who is known for introducing fresh talents to the industry. Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum is his upcoming project which stars Vijay Sethupathi and Madonna Sebastian, of Premam fame. Pizza 2: The Villa and Sarabham are his other noted movies. He distributed the movie - Kalyana Samayal Saadham in 2013, which was a commercial success.

He belongs to Tirumangalam, Madurai. He reached Chennai in the early 2000s to pursue his post-graduation course. During this time, he attended classes at Arena Multimedia before he returned back to his hometown. For the next three years he learnt scriptwriting, animation, sound design, and branding. In 2010, his trip to Los Angeles proved to be the turning point of his career. It was during his trip to US, when he decided to produce same quality movies in India as well. He started Thirukumaran Entertainment in 2010 with this aim.

His first movie was Attakathi in 2011, with a team of freshers, including new cast and director. Though the movie got delayed by 6 months for some reason, it received rave reviews from critics. It was followed by Vijay Sethupathi and Remya Nambeesan starrer Pizza which was a huge hit at box office. The black comedy Tamil film, Soodhu Kavvum just followed it and thus C. V. Kumar established himself as a successful producer of Tamil Film Industry. 144, Irudhi Suttru, Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum and Iraivi are his upcoming projects. He has started his first directorial venture.
