Boopathy Pandian Biography

Boopathy Pandian is a successful film director associated with Tamil film industry. He worked as an assistant to Sundar C, and also assisted him to write dialogues for a couple of films before he began his career as an independent filmmaker. In 2005, he directed his first film, Devathayai Kanden starring Dhanush and Sridevi Vijaykumar. Later he made films - Thiruvilayadal Arambam, Malaikottai, Kaadhal Solla Vandhen, Pattathu Yaanai and his most recent release, Mannar Vagaiyara in 2018 after a hiatus of 5 years.

 

Boopathy Pandian got associated with Tamil film industry in the early 2000s, where he worked as an assistant director to Sundar C for the movie, Azhagana Naatkal in 2001. He also assisted the same director to write dialogues for his next two flicks – Winner (2003) and Giri (2004). A Dhanush starrer Ennai Mattum Kadhal Pannu was later renamed to Devathayai Kanden, named after the popular song of his debut flick. Pandian started his film career as a film director with this film. Though Sherin was initially casted for female lead, later she was replaced by Sridevi Vijaykumar.

 

In 2005 he announced his next project. But the project got dragged into different controversies including the film’s title taken from an old Sivaji Ganeshan classic, and Shriya Sharan who was initially casted opposite Dhanush to play the female lead withdrew from the project. The project got shelved. Shriya returned to the project and it was completed and released. The movie - Thiruvilayadal Arambam received positive reviews from critics. His next project Naanum En Sandhyavum announced in 2008 got shelved. Later too, many of his announced projects got delayed or shelved. Pattathu Yaanai in 2013 and Mannar Vagaiyara in 2018 are his released movies later.
