Blade Shankar Biography

Blade Shankar is a radio jockey, comedian and actor based in Chennai. His real name is Sankaranaryanan. He is also popular as RJ Shankar. As an RJ, his Morning Shows, Blade No.1 and Chinna Thampi Periya Thampi on Suryan FM Chennai are very popular. After the immense success of the show Blade No.1, Blade tag got added to his name. He began his career as an RJ with Suryan FM in 2003. 'Blade No.1' was aired since 2006. Oor Suthalaam Vaanga was the first radio show he hosted.

Sankaranarayanan was born on 23 March 1982. He is currently settled in Chennai, where he is fully engaged with his profession as an RJ. He completed his Chemical Engineering from Satyabama University in 2003. After his engineering studies, he started his career as a radio jockey with Suryan FM. Within a few years he gained a lot of fans, and he stayed in the same profession forever. He is widely known as Blade Shankar. Since young he loved mimicking others, and playing musical instruments also remained his hobby.

Blade Shankar has also acted in a few Tamil movies. A few of them have been released, while a few others in the delayed/slated to release stage. As a film actor, he is best known for the roles he played in Saguni (2012) and Sonna Puriyathu (2013). Maragadha Naanayam (2017) was his third release. He has acted in delayed films - Ula and Adangathey. He has also received a few radio awards for his skills. Most recently in 2018, Shankar bagged the winner award for best breakfast program Tamil for his most popular show - Blade no 1. The show is still in air. The show was also awarded Best Breakfast Programme by IRF (India Radio Forum) multiple times.
