Bidhu Bhusan Das Biography 
Bidhu Bhusan Das was an administrator and senior government official from the state of Orissa. He was one of the most influential personalities from the state who lived in the 20th century. Das also excelled as scholar, professor and public intellectual. Among all his job roles, he excelled in the field of education and teaching, and has taught, mentored and inspired two generations of his students. Many of his students later became political and cultural figures of India. Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University in 1977, director of the State Institute of Education in Bhubaneswar, and Director of Public Instruction in Orissa are the major administrative positions held by him. He also remained an advisor to many rulers and administrators.
Bidhu Bhusan Das was born on 11 April 1922, into a distinguished and famous political family from Orissa. Many of his family members also held administrative powers. The famous feminist and freedom activist Sarala Devi was his maternal aunt, and Nityanand Kanungo – the famous politician and union minister of Jawahar Nehru’s cabinet was his maternal uncle. His wife, Prabhat Nalini Das is a celebrated Indian academic from Odisha. Bidhu Bhusan Das excelled in the field of administration and education. Like his wife, he also remained a celebrated academician of his period.
An immensely venerated public intellectual and scholar, he served as the professor of English at Ravenshaw College in Cuttack, Tribhuvan University in Nepal and NEHU, Shillong. He wrote the entire set of statutes to set up Tribhuvan University in Nepal, and also remained an advisor to King Mahendra of Nepal under the Colombo Plan. Das has also served as a senior advisor to Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo, and government of Nagaland. He passed away in 1999.
