Bhushan Patel Biography

Bhushan Patel is a film director from Bollywood best known for horror flicks. He is also an actor and cinematographer. He is best known for the works of horror flicks - 1920: Evil Returns, Ragini MMS 2 and Alone, which fared well at box office. His horror flicks are also known for sedative nature. Amavas is his upcoming flick and it stars Sachiin Joshi, Vivan Bhatena and Nargis Fakhri in lead roles. The movie is slated to release in 2019. He has also co-directed TV shows like Lipstick, and done camera work for a few movies in the 1990s; his name was credited as Bhooshan Patel then. As a director, cinematographer and actor he has worked with Bhatt camp frequently, both with Mahesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt.

Bhushan Patel is a Gujarati, whose family is settled in Mumbai. His father was a cameraman. He completed his schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School, and in those days he lived next to Vikram Bhatt’s home. Thus two became good friends. Later both Mahesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt gave him numerous opportunities in Bollywood, in different roles of an actor, cinematographer as well as director. Patel has directed a few horror flicks for Bhatt’s production company.

He marked his debut as an actor in the early 1990s, and has done small roles in two films directed by Mahesh Bhatt - Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee and Junoon. After that he moved behind camera, and did the cinematography for movies like Gunehgar, Dastak, Bambai Ka Babu, Tamanna, Kartoos and Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan in the second half of 1990s. With early 2000s he worked in television for a while and directed shows like Lipstick, Aathvaan Vachan, Dwarkadheesh: Bhagwaan Shree Krishna etc before he re-joined film industry in the early 2010s.
