Bhavya Patel Biography

Bhavya Patel, best known as Bhavya is a south Indian film actress. She started off playing lead roles and currently plays supporting roles. She has acted in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu movies. She started her film career with Prema Parva in 1983 and has completed three decades in the film industry. Praana Snehita released the same year marked her career as lead actress. One of the top heroines of 1980s, Krishna Nee Begane Baaro (1986), Sangrama (1987), Avale Nanna Hendthi and S. P. Sangliana (1988) are among her commercial hits, where she played lead heroine’s role. Since 2004, she switched to supporting roles. Bhavya acted opposite Shankar Nag in a maximum number of films.

Her birth name is Bharathi, and she hails from Bangalore, Karnataka. She was born on April 18, 1963. She started her film career at the age of 20 with a supporting role in Prema Parva, directed by Siddalingaiah. Praana Snehita was her first major role and since then she played lead heroine’s role in about 100 movies belonging to different south Indian languages. Her sizzling chemistry with actor Vishnuvardhan for the rain songs have a huge fan following crowd and are still popular. They were paired for the first time in 1983 movie, Kallu Veene Nudiyitu.

Since she made her screen debut she has played a wide range of roles, from a traditional girl to a glamorous lady, and she has achieved success in both types of roles. Pralayantaka (1984) was one of her early glamorous roles. Nee Bareda Kadambari was her major career breakthrough. It was a remake of Hindi film Pyar Jhukta Nahin, and she was paired with Vishnuvardhan in this Kannada remake. The movie also marked the directorial debut of producer Dwarakish. After playing lead roles in 1980s and 1990s, she switched to character roles in the mid-2000s, and Chakravyuha, Monalisa, Sajini, Prema Pallakki, Shivam, Moorkha etc are some of her noted roles. She is also associated with Kannada television.
