Bhanu Chander Biography

Bhanu Chander is a popular Tamil and Telugu actor, who is also known as a film director and producer. He is the son of the popular music director Madduri Venu Gopal. Bhanu Chander is best known for 1990, National award winning ‘Sutradharulu’, directed by K. Viswanath. The movie also starred Akkineni Nageshwara Rao and Kaikala Satyanarayana in pivot roles. He played the pivot role of Gopi in National award winning Tamil film Veedu in 1988. Sutradhaarulu (1990), Merupudadi (1984) and Swathi (1985) are his memorable roles as a film actor. As a film actor, he is best known for the association with lead directors - K. Viswanath, Balu Mahendra, B. Narsing Rao, K. Balachander and S. S. Rajamouli. Tamil film - Kanchana 2 is his latest release. He has also acted in a few television serials.


Bhanu was born in Andhra Pradesh in 1952. He wanted to become a musician during his childhood while his mother dreamt about him to become an actor. He learnt guitar and even worked as an assistant to famous music director Naushad for a few years. Bhanu Chander joined the film institute and learnt acting course, to make his mother happy. He has been a batch match of both Chiranjeevi and Rajinikanth. He also earnt martial arts and he is the black belt holder in Karate.


Mana Voori Pandavulu – released in 1978 is his first credited role as an actor. The movie starred megastar Chiranjeevi. Moodupani was his first credited role as a hero where he was paired with Shobha. The movie was directed by Balu Mahendra. Adavaalu Meeku Joharulu, Tarangini..., Nireekshana, Vamsha Gouravam, Edi Nyayam? Edi Dharmam, Gudachari No.1, Konte Kodallu, Silk Silk Silk, Neengal Kettavai, Swathi etc are some of his early films, where he was seen in less significant or noted character roles. Sutradhaarulu, Swathi and Veedu are some of his significant roles. In the movie ‘Veedu’, he played Archana’s fiancée, who helps her to construct her dream home. In 1991, he played lead role in Telugu biographical sports drama film, Ashwini, the movie which won two Nandi awards.
