Barsha Rani Bishaya Biography

Barsha Rani Bishaya is an Assamese film actress, well-known theatre personality and ace Bihu dancer. As a film actress, her best works are Bukur Majot Jowle, Jon Jole Kopalot, Hiyar Dapunot Tumare Sobi, Senai Mur Dhulia, Bidhata and I Love You. Her film Basundhara won the Best Feature Film in Assamese language at National Film Awards 2009. This beauty is a pristine beauty who has revolutionized the Assamese film industry with her super-hit flick “Bukur Majot Jole“. She has also acted in some Bengali movies and Hindi television serials. She is the daughter of Assamese film director, Ashok Kumar Bishaya.

 

Barsha is a native of Guwahati. September 20 is her birthday. Her father Ashok Kumar Bishaya is a producer and director of the Assamese film industry. She has been a part of many films, serials, plays, mobile theaters, etc and has been associated with art forms since 1995. Her performances have gathered great positive audience responses. She made her film debut through Joubone Aamoni Kore – the movie produced and directed by her father. Later she appeared in Bukur Majot Jowle, Jon Jole Kopalot, Arpan, Hiyar Dapunot Tumare Sobi, Senai Mur Dhulia and Jumon Sumon. Since then, she has excelled herself as a bihu dancer and an anchor, apart from an actress.

 

She played the title role of Basundhara, a young NGO activist in the 2010 drama film Basundhara directed and scripted by Hiren Bora. The movie was released to high acclamation from critics and won National award for best regional film in Assamese language. She shared screen space with Saurabh Hazarika and Iftekar Ahmed for the movie. As a versatile actress, Barsha has proved her acting talents through various forms of art.
