Bank Janardhan Biography

Bank Janardhan is a bank employee turned actor of Kannada film industry. This character artist has excelled both in dramatic roles as well as comic ones and is also associated with Kannada TV industry. News, Shhh!, Tharle Nan Maga etc are some of his noted film roles while Papa pandu, Mangalya and Robo family are among his popular television roles. Mane tumba bari Jamba, Uppi 2, Upendra 2, Vyuha, Power, Hasiru kranti veera, Gandhiji Kanasu, Billion Dollar Baby, Kalyanamasthu, Dosti, Benki Birugali, Sri Amareshwara Mahatme etc are some of his recent film appearances. He has given some hilarious comic scenes with actors Jaggesh, Doddanna, Tennis Krishna etc.

Bank Janardhan was born in 1948, in Holalkere, Chitradurga. He worked in Canara Bank in Holalkere before his entry to films and that’s why ‘Bank’ tag got added to his name. He is associated with film industry since early 1990s and has completed 25 years in the Kannada film industry. He started his film career with the Kannada movie Ajagajanthara (1991). His role as a stingy father in Tharle Nan Maga was well appreciated. The movie released in 1992 gave him a big break to his acting career. Since then he has gained popularity, sharing screen space with character artists Jaggesh, Doddanna and Tennis Krishna.

Paapa Pandu is his popular TV role. His strange mannerism by rubbing his partially bald head has given many comic scenes to Kannada cinema. He is to be featured in Engagement, the movie scheduled to release in 2018. The movie is directed by Nanjundi S P and it’s rumoured he is to play a romantic role with a comic touch. His son Guruprasad has ventured into films a director and has made his debut with the film - ‘Agni Musti’.
