Bala Hijam Biography 
Bala Hijam, also known as Surjabala Hijam is a young actress from Manipur and has many Manipuri hits in her credit. She is a Manipuri actress who has a huge fan following crowd after her debut Malayalam flick, Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi directed by Sameer Thahir. This highly acclaimed Malayalam movie is a thriller road movie; she played the role an engineering student Assi and Dulquer Salmaan's love interest. The movie also included ensemble star cast of Sunny Wayne, Ena Saha, Dhritiman Chatterjee and Joy Mathew. She made her Bollywood debut too in 2014 in the lead heroine role. The movie was Zindagi on the Rocks directed by Ravindra Suryavanshi. The movie also starred Himanshu Maggo and Tushar Pant in pivot roles.
Surjabala Hijam was born on June 9, 1991 in Imphal West, Manipur. Hijam Biramangol and Hijam Suniti Devi are her parents. Her father runs a small business firm and she has three siblings. Bala made her film debut at the age of 17 when she was at school. Oken Amakcham's Manipuri film Tellanga Mamei marked her acting debut in 2008, followed by Khangdreda Nongdamba, Panthungee Wangmada, School Karusi, Manipur Express and Yaiskul Gee Pakhang Angaoba, till she moved to south in 2013. 5 movies of Bala were released in 2013, including her Malayalam debut - Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi.
Her Bollywood debut - Zindagi on the Rocks was released in 2014. In 2011 she received Special Jury award for Manipuri from FAM. She is the only pan-Indian film star who played the female lead in movies from places as far apart as Manipur, Kerala and the Hindi-Urdu belt.
