Baburaj Biography

Baburaj is a popular actor of Malayalam who handles both villain characters and comic roles. With the release of Salt and Pepper in 2011, he transformed himself from a villain to a super comedian and all comedy scenes of the movie where Baburaj did with serious and innocent looks will always remain as true classics! He is married to famous actress of Malayalam – Vani Viswanath. He has also appeared in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi movies in character roles. He appeared in Priyadarshan movie, Hulchul and Telugu movie Anthima Theerpu (2010). He has also produced a few movies. He is an advocate by profession and has practiced for 7 years.

Baburaj Jacob, shortly known as Baburaj belongs to Irinjalakkuda of Thrissur District. He started his career as a junior artist in 1994 movie – Bhishmacharya. He played negative role in this movie and from there on, till 2011, he was known as one among the best villains of Malayalam. A few of his memorable performances till 2011 include - Dilli wallah Rajakumaran, Nasrani, Nagaram, Indrajith, Jagathi Jagadish in Town , Rajamanikyam, Kilichundan manpazham, Time, Chotta Mumbai, Chakram, Kusruti, Sathyam, Kambolam, Ora maravathur kanavu, Kottapurathe Koottukudumbam, Pokiri raja, Amrutham, Albhuta deepu, Vamsam, Kilukkam Kilukilukkam, Mahasamudram, Chinthamani Kolacase, Chess, Ali bhai, Pothan vava, Rapid action force, Lokanathan I.A.S, Thantonni, Black cat, Mission 90 days, Nadiya Kollappetta Rathri,  Chakko randaaman and Thuruppu Gulan.

 In 2009, he debut as a director through action movie, ‘Black dahlia’ where his wife Vani Viswanath played leading role. However the movie received cold responses from public. After the release of Salt n Pepper, Manushya Mrigam was released where he played hero’s role with negative shades. The movie was directed by himself and Pritviraj made a cameo appearance in this movie. He has also written the story of 1997 movie - Adukkala Rahasyam Angadipattu and produced the movie, Thantra.  

Among his recent releases, his comic role in Mayamohini was appreciated most. Other movies are Mr.Marumakan, Kammatt and Kammat, Idiots, Entry and Honey bee.
