Atul Kulkarni Biography

Atul Kulkarni is a talented Indian actor known for supporting roles. He has won National award twice. He has worked in Bollywood, Marathi as well as south Indian movies and known for powerful screen presence. He won National award for best supporting actor for the bilingual film – Hey Ram in 2000 and Chandini bar in 2002. He also received a nomination for supporting actor at Filmfare awards for the role Hey ram. As a south Indian actor, he won Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Kannada for Edegarike in 2012. He received Best actor nomination at Asia Pacific Screen Awards for his memorable performance for Marathi film - Natarang (2010). He is known for portraying negative roles as well and equally successful in Bollywood and south Indian movies.

Atul belongs to Karnataka, born in the year 1965. Born in Belgaum, his business family finally settled in Solapur, where Atul completed his matriculation. He is married to theater actress Geetanjali Kulkarni. After studies, he joined NSD, New Delhi. Atul made his film debut through Kannada film ‘Bhoomi Geetha’ in 1997 and appeared in many south Indian movies, before moving to Bollywood. He has acted in all south Indian languages and has portrayed the role of police inspector several times. He has also appeared in English movie, 'Singularity’.

Allah Ke Banday, Bum bum bole, Jail, Chaalis Chauraasi, Satta, Dum, The Attacks of 26/11, Zanjeer, 88 Anthop Hill, Khakki, Page 3, Delhi 6 and Rang De Basanthi are other noted Bollywood roles. He has also portrayed a few leading roles in Marathi films. Natarang and Premachi Goshta are his noted Marathi movies in which he played lead role. He was casted opposite Sagarika Ghatge for the movie, Premachi Goshta whose theme was love after marriage, for which he received wide appreciation.
