Athira Patel Biography

Athira Patel is an Indian actress who mainly appears in Malayalam films. She mostly plays sister kind of supporting roles onscreen, and is best known for playing the role of Vincent Pepe's sister in Angamaly Diaries and Jayasurya’s niece in Aadu 2. She is originally from Karnataka, with surname Patelars, which later derived as Patel, not the same of Patel of Gujarat. She marked her film debut with Ishti – a Sanskrit film in 2016 and Malayalam debut with Angamaly Diaries in 2017. Patel will be next seen as the lead actress in Contessa.

This budding young actress hails from Thrissur, Kerala. She is studying at Aptech Aviation & Hospitality Academy, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Her debut Sanskrit film ‘Ishti’ (search for the self) was scripted and directed by Dr. G. Prabha, a Sanskrit professor and a doctorate holder in Sanskrit. She played lead role in this movie, shared screen space with Malayalam veteran actor Nedumudi Venu. ‘Ishti’ was the opening film at 47^th International Film Festival of India, in Indian Panorama feature film section. But she became familiar to Malayali audience through her debut Malayalam film, Angamaly Diaries. Though her role was short, her role as Vincent Pepe's sister in the movie is quite memorable.

Her next release was Villain co-starring Mohanlal, and she played daughter of Mathew Manjooran and Neelima in the film. She also got recognized for her brief role in Jayasurya starrer comedy flick, Aadu 2. In her opening scene in the movie, she is seen threatening Jayasurya with a sickle in hand. It was really hilarious. She was seen throughout the movie in bit parts.
