Ashwin Kumar Biography

Ashwin Kumar is a popular actor associated with south Indian cinema, known for playing supporting and antagonist roles. His negative roles in Malayalam super hit, Jacobinte Swargarajyam starring Nivin Pauley and Tamil mega hit Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru starring Rahman cemented his position in south Indian film industry. He also played lead role in Malayalam movie "Charminar". He is associated with entertainment industry since the age of 7. Earlier he has worked as a child artist in Tamil movies in the second half of 1990s. He is active in Tamil television industry as well.

Ashwin Kumar is the grandson of Tamil actors K. A. Thangavelu and Kaka Radhakrishnan. Born into a Tamil filmy family in 1987, he is Dubai-based. He marked his acting debut as a child actor in Tamil film industry at the age of 7 for the drama film, Periya Marudhu and was also seen in Sakthi Chidambaram's Samrat released in 1997. He took a break from films for studies. He later got active in Tamil television industry since 2009. He was seen in Chellamay aired on Sun TV since 2009, and the show went off air in 2012. He played the role of Maniyarasu in this series.

Ashwin got fully active in television field since 2014, and appeared in a series of television serials such as Ethir Veetu Paiyan, Thamarai, Kula Deivam, Lakshmi Kalyanam and Azhagiya Tamil Magal. He currently plays the role of Jeeva’s brother in Azhagiya Tamil Magal aired on ZEE Tamil and also the role of Dwarakesh Raghavan in Thamarai since 2014. His role in television serial Lakshmi Kalyanam is one among the lead heroes. In 2013, he was seen in Tamil-Telugu bilingual Gouravam and also most recent release, Saranalayam.
