Arpita Pal Biography

Arpita Pal, also known as Arpita Chattapadhyay is a noted Bengali film actress. She is married to Bengali film star Prosenjit Chatterjee since 2002. She made her film debut in the year 1999 with the film Tumi Ele Tai, in a supporting role where the lead role was played by her future husband, Prosenjit Chatterjee. It was followed by Asukh, the same year where she played second lead. The movie was directed by acclaimed director Rituparno Ghosh. Later she was featured in movies of Rituparno Ghosh including Utsab, and his last movie, Satyanweshi. In Utsab too, she acted with Prosenjit Chatterjee. They were paired for the first time in 2001 movie, Pratibad directed by Haranath Chakraborty.

Prasenjit Chatterjee and Arpita Pal played the role of Dev and Paru in 2002 Bengali movie, Devdas directed by Shakti Samanta. Indrani Haldar played the role of Chandramukhi. Inquilaab and Deva are two more movies released the same year where the successful onscreen couple has been paired together. Two got married the same year. Then she took a break from the industry and returned back only in 2010 with Ekti Tarar Khonje directed by Abhik Mukhopadhyay. She was paired with Shayan Munshi and the veteran actor Dhritiman Chatterjee also acted in this movie. Satyanweshi, Dutta Vs Dutta, Abhimaan, Laboratory, Sthaniyo Sangbad and Ekti Tarar Khonje are other releases after her comeback. Ektu Anyo Rakom and Ghete Gho are her upcoming releases. She has also rendered her voice for movies – Satyanweshi and Bapi Bari Jaa.

Arpita is Prosenjit’s third wife. He was earlier married to Debashree Roy and Aparna Guhathakurta. Her father-in-law Biswajit was a legendary actor of Bollywood yesterdays, known for the musical hits like Bees saal baad, Kismat, Shehnai etc. Prosenjit Chatterjee himself is a super star of Bengali cinema, and has a huge fan following. She is known for re-uniting the father and son after 20 years of stressed relationship. Arpita is to debut Bollywood with the movie directed by Onir, titled Shab.
