Arjun Jena Biography

Arjun Jena is a cinematographer based in Chennai. He predominantly works in Tamil film industry. The cameraman, who made his debut with Kadhal Virus, took a break of 5 years in the industry and later returned with Ajith-starrer Aegan after a hiatus. The film was a huge hit and Arjun’s work was well appreciated. Love Khichdi is yet another noted camera work of Jena. He has wonderfully filmed many hit film songs.

Arjun Jena hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was born on 6 March 1971. He is associated with cine industry since 1990s, and rose to prominence in the 2000s. In the early 1990s, he joined as an assistant cameraman under acclaimed cinematographer P. C. Sreeram. As an assistant, he worked under the renowned cinematographer for classic Tamil films like Thevar Magan (1992), followed by Thiruda Thiruda (1993), May Madham (1994) etc. Pasavalai and Kurudhipunal are other major works as a cameraman in the 1990s. In 1998 he shot a silent film, Silent Scream, which won National Film Award for Best Educational/Motivational/Instructional Film.

Since 1996 he worked as an assistant cameraman under Jeeva, and has worked for Tamil super hit movies such as Indian, Vaali, Kushi, Ullasam and Run, and also a few Hindi films like Zor, Hera Pheri and Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar in the late 1990s and early 2000s. As an independent cinematographer, he got his first break through Tamil hit film, Kathal Virus in 2000. The film was directed by Kathir. The movie earned honours and nominations at various award functions. Oka Oorilo, Aegan, Love Khichdi, Ala Modalaindi, Angane Thudangi, Tulasi Apa and Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga are his other works as a cinematographer.
