Anugrah Narayan Sinha Biography 
Bihar Vibhuti Dr. Anugrah Narayan Sinha was a famous politician and freedom fighter from Bihar. He was the first Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister of Bihar. He along with the nationalists Rajendra Prasad and Krishna Singh is regarded among the "Architects of Modern Bihar". He was one of the eminent nationalists of his time. He was a very close associate of Mahatma Gandhi during India’s freedom struggle movement, particularly in Bihar. He was affectionately called "Babu Saheb", by none other than Gandhi. Dr. Rajendra Prasad once remarked “Like Nehru and Patel in the Centre, Sri Krishna Sinha and Dr. Anugrah Narayan Sinha were indispensable to one another and to the people of Bihar”.
He was born in Aurangabad in 1887. He was patriotic since his younger days and also very brilliant in academic studies. He completed Maters in History from University of Calcutta in 1914. The following year he joined as History professor at the T.N.B. College in Bhagalpur and worked for a brief period. Later he practised law at Patna High Court. In 1917, he left his professional career to the call of nationalist movement. He was associated with Champaran Satyagraha movement and was catapulted to the national stage.
He also worked as faculty at "Bihar Vidyapeeth” founded by Dr. Rajendra Prasad. He became a general secretary of AICC in 1923 and was elected Vice-Chairman to Patna municipality. He was also a key member behind Civil Disobedience Movement in 1930. He was also among the first to join Gandhiji's call for Satyagraha in 1940–41 for which he got arrested. After the formation of Bihar state, when his chief associate Krishna Singh became the chief minister, he too joined his cabinet.
