Antara Biswas Biography

Antara Biswas is a glamorous Indian actress associated with Bhojpuri films. She has also worked in Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films. Predominantly worked in Bhojpuri movies, she completed 50 films in the language. She is also known by the screen name – Mona Lisa. She appeared in several B-grade movies before she got one or two Bollywood movies. She was seen in the Bollywood movie – Blackmail starring Ajay Devgn and Suniel Shetty. She also appeared in several musical albums. Bobby: Love and Lust (2005), Meri Life Mein Uski Wife (2009) and Sheetalbhabi.com (2011) are her best known movies.

Antara was born into a Bengali family. She made her start as a small-time TV actress and model in Oriya Albums. She later accepted the screen name – Mona Lisa as per astrology after she stuck with item numbers. After she changed her name, her fortunes changed and the Bengali babe has made it big in Bollywood's B-grade movies – says Antara. She played bit roles in a string of Hindi movies, Ab Bas, Tauba Tauba, Jalwa and Blackmail to mention a few. Blackmail was her debut Bollywood flick. She came into limelight through the South Indian movie 'Tauba Tauba' opposite Amin Gazi.

Appeared in numerous sleaze films, she got one of them in a title role - Bobby. She calls them to be low-budget movies as she gets good money for those roles, though not belonging to big banner ones. It’s not easy to get big banner movies – actress says. She studied at Julien Day School and did her BA from Ashutosh College before starting off with small television roles. She did one Bengali film – Adhikar, a Kannada film titled Jackpot. She is one of the most sought actresses of Bhojpuri film industry.
