Ankur Vikal Biography

Ankur Vikal is a talented actor who was graduated from the prestigious National School of Drama in the year 2000. Vikal has a strong theatre background and he appears in Bollywood films in supporting roles also. He played male lead in the Bollywood film, The Forest released in 2009. He played the antagonist terrorist leader Yakub in Anil Kapoor's TV Series 24. He was a part of academic award winning film, Slumdog Millionaire too. He played a brief role of Maman in the film. Currently he is a part of the play Nirbhaya. Ankur is the only male actor in the play which features five female stage actors. Ankur has also appeared in a few south Indian films too.

 

Prior to joining NSD, Delhi he completed his graduation in Architecture from Baroda. His intense enthusiasm for cinema brought him to NSD. Mongo Souffle was his first venture as an actor. He mostly played brief roles in films, The Forest being the only exception where he played the male lead. He shared screen space with Javed Jaffrey and Nandana Sen for the movie, written and directed by Ashvin Kumar. He was a part of Slumdog Millionaire (2008), and thus he was awarded Screen Actors Guild Award for Best ensemble cast for a film.

 

In the mainstream Bollywood films, he was seen in the films, Striker and Missed Call. Ankur has also appeared in a few south Indian films. He made his Tamil film debut through Mariyan (2013) as an oil worker. He made his Telugu film debut through Kedi. He has been an active member of Motley Theatre Group and has acted for the plays, Manto Ismat Haazir Hain, All Thieves, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, Safed Jhooth Kaali Shalwar, Katha Kollage II etc.
