Anjum Moudgil Biography

Anjum Moudgil is an Indian sports shooter from Chandigarh, India. She is an international rifle shooter, an up-and-coming painter who also pursues sports psychology. Though juggling between these three areas is difficult, she keeps a balancing act, and her study of sports psychology also comes in handy. Moudgil had won her first International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup medal, a silver at the Shooting World Cup 2018 held at Mexico at the age of 24. In 2018 Common Wealth Games, she won silver in women's 50m Rifle, finishing behind record breaking performance of Tejaswini Sawant who clinched gold in the same event for team India.

She was born in Chandigarh on 5 January 1994. Shooting and painting – both are her passions, and she loves to carry both hand in hand. Whenever she sets for a shooting tournament, she also finds space for bare-minimum drawing tools to keep her passion burning. She can’t keep off painting even while she is for a shooting event, away from her country. Between juggling with the brush and the gun, she found enough time to complete her master’s degree in sports psychology also. She suffered a back injury in 2014, and missed some of her regular classes at that time.

She started competitive shooting in 2009 and competes in three events being 10m Air Rifle, 50m 3 Position and 50m Prone. Anjum has been a part of the Indian Shooting Team since 2010, and has represented her country for more than 10 international events so far. In 2018, after her ‘silver’ win at World cup, she has earned spots for the 50m rifle 3 position and 50m rifle prone along with Tejaswini Sawant. While Tejaswini won gold at women's 50m Rifle event, Anjum finished just behind her claiming silver.
