Anji (cinematographer) Biography

Anji is a well-known cinematographer associated with south Indian cinema. His full name is Anjaneyulu. He has worked in all the four major south Indian language films. Anji made his debut as a cinematographer in Tamil films with The Angrez in 2005, and slowly gained success from the industry from 2009 onwards. His works in Odipolama (2009) and Thambi Vettothi Sundaram (2011) got noticed and Anji stayed in the industry. As of now he has done around 50 films belonging to Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil languages.

Anjaneyulu was born in Andhra Pradesh into a Telugu speaking family. From working for small-ticket films to being a favourite of Ram Gopal Varma, Anji has travelled a long distance since 2005. The Angrez (2005), a Tamil film marked his debut as a full-fledged cinematographer. He made a name for himself with Pokkiri Raja (2016 Tamil movies) and after working with RGV he rose to the main league of leading cinematographers of Telugu film industry. In fact he started gaining success from the industry, after being teamed up with Ram Gopal Varma for a few movies since 2010. When RGV returned to filmmaking after a short break, Anji also joined his team. He worked on the productions of his Ice Cream franchise. He experimented with the flow cam system for the first time.

He worked on the production of a Russo-Indian film, Ueban in 2013. The mass entertainer Pokkiri Raja starring Jiiva, Hansika and Sibi Satyaraj in lead roles gave him a major breakthrough. Since then he started signing big budget projects. Tholisariga, Pelli Kani Prasad, Nee Navve Chalu, Alalu, Burrakatha, Seetha Ramudu, Tata Birla Madhyalo Laila, Maa Iddari Madhya, Call Centre, Cinemakeldam Randi, Erra Bus, Attack, Tholisariga, Ice Cream 2, Pokkiri Raja and Burrakatha are among his best works.
